Roger Dubuis Wristwatches
Carlos Dias founded Roger Dubuis as SOGEM SA (Société Genevoise des Montres) in 1995. In 1999, he had experience enough to deserve and lay claim to the title of Manufacture. Starting in 2001, Manufacture Roger Dubuis established buildings to vertically integrate production of movements and increase production. By 2003, the Manufacture Roger Dubuis had attained complete independence and in-house capability of design and manufacture of complete movements, from the simple to extremely complicated.
Roger Dubuis Excalibur RD01
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur RD01 is a fantastic watch both handsome in appearance and extraordinary in function. It is equipped with a mechanical hand-wound movement and has two tourbillon escapements. The tourbillons work in opposite rotational directions and are coupled by a differential mechanism which calculates the average of the two tourbillons in order to display the time even more accurately than a wristwatch with just one tourbillon movement.
The double flying tourbillon with differential, tourbillon carriages is visible between the 4 and 5 o'clock and the 7 and 8 o'clock hour markers. The hours are indicated by a jumping hour-hand through 360° on the dial. The minutes are continuously displayed on the upper part of the dial, through a 180° arc, with a retrograde (jump back) to zero at 60 minutes. There is a power reserve indication; that is shown through the sapphire crystal case-back.
